Since we're not widely publicizing this blog, we hope that most of you know us already. For those of you who stumbled upon
us, here's a little background.
First off, we highly value our personal and professional privacy, so you will not see certain details of our lives included
here. While we realize that someone with enough patience and persistence could figure out who we are, we're not about to
make it easy for you. We do lock our doors after all, even though anyone can break a window.
Here's what we will tell you:
We are a family of four, about to be living in the Netherlands for three years.
The father of the house (let's call him D) works for a large global company and its his job that has taken us on this
adventure. He is also the main writer of this blog.
The mother (let's call her M) is staying at home with the children and working on a multitude of her own projects while
they are off at school.
The children (let's call them Older and Younger) are both boys in primary school, one year apart.
Our main purpose in writing this blog is to keep our friends and family up to date on the state of our adventure and to
help us remember these upcoming three years. We hope to be diligent about updating at least weekly, although there will certainly
be ebbs and flows as stresses mount and decline.
You will probably also see a lot of grumbling about this or that, since we'll probably use this blog as a place to dump
our frustrations. Please don't take that as the sum total of our experiences. We will try our best to capture the good with
the bad, as there will certainly be doses of both.
We also hope that this blog gives you a little glimpse into the Dutch culture from the inside and the American culture
from the outside. We look forward to our time away as a broadening experience for us, and we hope we can share a bit of that
with you.
